Fillings

We use dental fillings to treat cavities, restoring teeth damaged by decay and returning them to their normal function and shape. By closing off spaces where bacteria enter, fillings help prevent further decay. Choose from gold, porcelain, amalgam or composite. Your filling helps ensure you have a dazzling, healthy smile.

Inlays and Onlays

Sometimes a filling is just not enough to repair a damaged tooth. If you’re missing more than half a tooth or if decay has undermined your tooth’s integrity, an inlay or onlay may be necessary. Sometimes referred to as indirect fillings and made of porcelain, gold or composite resin, inlays and onlays are cosmetic dental procedures that restore the normal look and function to teeth. An inlay fills the hollows and cavities between the cusps, encompassing the chewing surface of the tooth. An onlay is a more substantial reconstruction, extending out and covering one or more cusps of the tooth.

Crowns

If a large portion of the center of your tooth is missing due to decay or damage, or if your tooth is fractured or if it’s missing a cusp, you may require a crown. A crown, also called a cap, is a fixed prosthetic device made of porcelain, ceramic, gold, metal alloy or acrylic. It’s cemented onto your existing tooth or implant to protect it and restore its strength, shape, alignment and appearance. A crown covers the entire visible portion of a tooth, to the gum line.

Bridges

Missing a tooth? A dental bridge is a comfortable and natural-looking way to replace a missing tooth. Composed of three or more connected dental crowns, it restores the appearance and function of your smile and prevents problems such as shifting teeth. Typically, two crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the empty space, supporting a middle crown that relapses the missing tooth. A dental bridge safeguards the integrity of your existing teeth and allows you to chew and smile with confidence.

At Vitality Oral Health we’ll help determine whether you require a filling, onlay, overlay, crown or bridge. We provide a personalized treatment plan to suit your needs and circumstances. Come see us for all your family dentistry needs.
